Microsoft Office 2010 Web Apps to Support File Recovery

Office Web Apps will completely replace the current online document storage sharing service Office Live Workspace and restore the previous version of the document.

It is claimed that Office Web Apps will completely replace the current online document storage sharing service Office Live Workspace (http://office.live.com/), but also the integrate its Version Support feature.

Version Support is also known as Versioning that can help to restore (Windows 7 Data Restore Software)the previous version of the document, and Google document also has a similar Restore feature. This feature is similar to Microsoft's Shadow Copy, which can effectively help Windows users to prevent accidental data loss.

Microsoft introduced the Version Support function of Office Web Apps: "With the different revisions of the same document, you can use online file manager which is provided by Windows Live SkyDrive to restore the previously revised document version."

In addition, Microsoft SkyDrive is Microsoft's free online storage service, and you can store, create, edit and share your Office Web Apps documents, create a new document, workbook, and presentation or OneNote notebook using the Office Web Apps as well.


Office Web Apps is consisted of four Excel, PowerPoint, Word and OneNote, and supports Internet Explorer (version 7 and later), Safari (version 4 and later) and Firefox (version 3.5 and later).

There are three versions of Office Web Apps as following:

The consumer version: It is totally free and tied to Microsoft SkyDrive, you can store, create, edit and share your Office Web Apps documents, as well as designate certain folders as private and others as shareable.

The hosted version: Business customers can pay for hosted accounts on Microsoft Online Services, which is powered by SharePoint.

The corporate, in-house version: Enterprises can host Office Web Apps on their own SharePoint server, and it will be part of the volume license for Microsoft Office.

At last, the consumer version offers Bing search integration and the ability to embed Office documents in blogs, wikis, and Web pages. Besides, the SharePoint-hosted version includes auditing, document lifecycle, and backup and restore
