Compatibility of old computer with Microsoft's new operating system

It is only natural that whenever a new operating system makes its entry into the market, the users of previous versions of the operating system will have sleepless nights trying to figure out if the existing systems will be compatible with the new version available. And here we see Microsoft's Windows 7 and its old users. But Microsoft has devised a way to make it slightly easier for its users to determine if the user's old computer is compatible with its latest version by introducing a Compatibility Center. It will reveal if a computer is outdated to meet the new OS standards or what software or driver upgrade it will require for an upgrade.
The support will be available in the form of a compatibility website, but it will be available only after the release of Windows 7 operating system in stores from October 22, 2009. As the launch draws nearer, thousands of products will be enlisted in the support pipeline where the peripherals and the applications associated with the support will be scrutinized and checked and slowly, with that, with the required data the testing will be carried out. There is also a provision for users to e-mail their product requests and thereafter look for a new gear which will have the logo: Compatible with Windows 7 operating system.
As for other users with other operating systems like Windows XP or earlier versions, Microsoft has asked its users to get help from local computer service provider. The most common procedure would be to undertake a clean installation which means one will have to back up all current files and settings and then reinstall them all over again.

Operating Systems for Smartphone Mobile

The market for mobile phone operating systems seems to be growing continuously and advancing quite rapidly. Consumers are being wooed by Mobile phone makers and these companies are vying hard by going head to head in a battle to emerge as the winner. It can be observed that in the past few years the smartphone mobile operating system (OS) market has been transformed completely with a regular flow of new contenders entering the market. The Mobile Phone operating System industry seems to be shaken by the emergence of an open platform for operating systems.
These platforms have been trusted and adopted by a couple of smartphone handset makers by taking them under their wings while there are still a some manufactures who choose to be unaffected by the change and are quite adamant to not leave their phones' operating systems open to inquisitive minds of developers who are not authenticated vendors. The issue of open platforms have been a burning topic this year. Initially it was their sole aim to predict an end to fragmentations in the market, but then again when a standard software platform was starting to be adopted by manufacturers, automatically there was a risk of losing the ability to tell them apart.
This resulted in the fragmentation of individual open platforms since the manufacturers started to compete. This trend is pretty obvious as we can see of late as individual manufacturers such as HTC and Motorola have started deploying their own UI and have managed to delve in deep and pull out an operating system which credits itself to managing contact information etc. amongst other things.

Computer Troubleshooting

The Last Known Good Configuration feature is a recovery option that you can use to start your computer by using the most recent settings that worked. The Last Known Good Configuration feature restores registry information and driver settings that were in effect the last time the computer started successfully. Use the Last Known Good Configuration feature when you cannot start Windows XP after you make a change to your computer, or when you suspect that a change that you just made may cause a problem. For example, you can use this feature if you cannot start Windows XP after you install a new driver for your video adapter, or if you installed an incorrect driver and have not yet restarted your computer.

When you start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, Windows XP restores information in the following registry key:

Troubleshooting
•With the Last Known Good Configuration feature, you can recover from configuration problems such as newly installed drivers that may be incorrect for your computer's hardware. It does not correct problems that are caused by missing or corrupted drivers or files.
•The Last Known Good Configuration feature uses information that is saved from the last time that you shut down your computer to restore registry settings and drivers. Therefore, you can use this feature only if you were able to start your computer successfully before you restore your computer by using the last known good configuration.
•After you start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, changes that were made since the last successful startup are lost.
